Saturday 12 April

Today I made a difference at tennis practice when one of the boys got stuck inside the tennis court after everyone left. I was still there and he was slightly overweight so I helped him climb the fence. I told him where to put his feet and hands so that he could get over. I know I made a difference because he thanked me many many times. I felt good to help someone in need. I think he felt relieved that I helped him and I know he was feeling this way because he was very happy that I helped him.
Friday 11 April

Today I made a difference at basketball practice when we were playing a game and one of the players in our team wasn't very good and my coach asked me if I wanted him to sub in for me if I said yes we would probably lose the match but I said yes and we didn't lose the match we won by 3 points. I know I made a difference because the look on that guy's face was amazing he felt as part of the team. I felt good that I let him sub in for me and made him feel good. I think he felt extremely happy and I know he was feeling this way because he thanked me and he had a happy look on his face.
Thursday 10 April

Today I made a difference at tennis practice when I helped my coach because he had to take a call so I had to help run the game that we were playing. I know I made a difference because everybody got to play a game and they didn't have to miss out. I felt good that he could keep me in charge. I think my coach felt he could rely on me and that I was trustworthy. I know he was feeling this way because he thanked me and left me in charge.

Monday 7 April

Today I when I was walking home from school I found a dog that looked lost, it was very small and young so it wasn't house trained and I read the collar and took the dog home. The house was on the same street as mine so I didn't have to take a detour. The woman who owned the dog was in tears when I found him. I felt good that I brought someones beloved pet back to them. I think the woman felt relived and thankful that I found her dog I know she was feeling this way because the look on her face when I brought in the dog was of relief and she thanked me many times.

Thursday 3 April

Today I made a difference when I saw a lady struggling with her shopping when I was on my way home from school. I stopped to help her carry her bags to the door then she offered me $2 but I said no thank you. I felt surprised that my first instinct was to help her, this unit we have been doing has helped me be a better person. I think the lady felt shocked and happy that I stopped to help her because you don't see that much these days. I know she was feeling this way because the look on her face was both shocked and happy.

Today I made a difference when my friend got hurt and he had to go to sickbay and I walked him there and wrote his name in the log for him because he had a hurt hand. I also waited with him while he was getting an ice-pack because he would have felt bored waiting by himself. I know that I made a difference because my friend thanked me after he finished in the sickbay.
I felt good that I made a difference and because good friends are hard to come by and I am glad that I was being one. I think that he felt as if he could count on me and I know this because he said that I was a good friend.

Today I made a difference when I was at basketball practice I saw a a guy that was struggling with his shooting and he was doing it completely wrong so I helped him out and showed him the right way of doing it. I know that I made a difference because the guy thanked me and because he played way better than usual and he won M.V.P (most valuable player) for his team.

As part of our Inquiry unit, Room 9 from New Zealand has decided to put our topic on Citizenship into practice. We have the challenge of performing one kind deed for each day for 17 days, starting from the 27th of March, 2008. Follow us as we blog our Citizenship journey.

A good citizen is someone who helps others even though it
inconveniences them, follows the rules and does something for someone without them asking. Someone who respects others.
